Wichita Senior Photographer (Maize 2011 Senior)

Mary's Senior Portraits.....AKA The Cactus Shoot
I have known Mary for almost ten years now and have seen her evolve into a GORGEOUS young woman!! She should definitely think about modeling because not only is she beautiful, she definitely knows how to work the camera!!

OK, so you are probably wondering why I am calling Mary's Senior Session "The Cactus Shoot."  During the shoot, Mary went behind some trees to change her outfit. Her sister went along with her to shield her with my reflector. Everything was going well until we heard Mary screaming about stickers and calling for someone to come to get her!

What? Stickers? How could it be so bad that she couldn't walk? I never took her for being a prissy girl! Well, her step-dad went back there to see what was going on and saw that Mary had stepped on a cactus!! Yes, you read that right...a cactus...a cactus in Wichita, Kansas!!!
Poor Mary had thousands of these tiny, fine prickly thorns through her socks!! Her mom and step-dad had to remove them. Good thing she was going to change into a dress at that point because her pants had them all over them too!!

When her parents were done with removing all of the thorns from her feet, Mary resumed getting dressed...not in that same spot of course :) and put her cowboy boots on and walked about a quarter of a mile to the bridge. At this point, I realized that this girl is anything but PRISSY!!

Mary, Thank you for letting me take your photos and document this special time in your life!! i wish you the best of luck with all of your future endeavors!

Family's First Photos! (Wichita Photographer)

I was honored to be asked to take family portraits for this beautiful family! These are their first family photos. I was thrilled to be able to document the joining of one of my closest friends with one of my favorite patients (don't worry.... this is not a HIPPA violation. I received his permission to reveal that!)!

These two beautiful people make a beautiful couple and I wish them a future filled with happiness!!

One more thing...I also have to say that the beautiful young lady with the beige sweater on will always have a special place in my heart because she was the first baby to made my "clock tick!" She was such a precious baby and was the first baby to actually do it for me!!! After holding her, I wanted one!! TICK-TOCK TICK-TOCK.

Her sister was just as precious of a baby, but at that point, I was fresh out of PT school and wasn't at a place in my life to even think about having babies!

And yes, seeing both of these girls maturing into lovely young women does make me feel old!!!

Finally....Home! Kristina+Sam ENGAGED (Wichita Engagement Photographer)

I had such a good time photographing Kristina+Sam!! Not only are they a darling couple, they are also both so sweet, lively, and fun! They compliment each other very well....and look so good together!

This is my favorite photo of the shoot(s)! This right here is why I chose to be a photographer...to capture moments like these! This photo is a perfect depiction of how this couple is in real life. Real. In love. Tender. Genuine. Sweet. Beautiful.

Story: Midwest Boy meets east cost girl in Oklahoma. They fall in love and decide to start their happily-ever-after on 9.10.11!!! A special date for a special couple!

When we were shooting these photos below, I realized that Kristina may just be the COOLEST girl on the planet! I really wanted shots of them leaning on the door below. When we walked up to it, it had spiders and spider webs all over the part of the door where I wanted her to lean against. I honestly thought that she was going to refuse. It has happened to me before! NOPE! Kristina just took off her shoe, killed the spiders with it, wiped the webs of the door, put her shoe back on and said, "Where do you want me?" That is the point at which I also thought that Sam was the LUCKIEST man on the planet!!

I love that we were able to capture the "heart" of Wichita in the background of some their photos. It was perfect given the fact that after travelling for so long, Kristina + Sam never had a place to call home....until now. They are making Wichita their home!

This is why they chose the song they did for their MIXED MEDIA video. If you haven't seen it, you can check it out by clicking here. Then click on the VIDEO tab.

Thank you Kristina+Sam for letting me be apart of your special event!! You are both beautiful, on the inside as well as the outside and are definitely lucky to have found EACH OTHER!! I am happy that you have decided to make Wichita your HOME!!

Meet Alex!

So most of you know that I do not photography children, but a friend was in a bind so I helped her out. How could I not share this cutie with you??? If all kids were as easy as her, I would definitely have to consider photographing children! Just kidding! Photographing kids is definitely NOT my thing! I'll leave that up to those photographers whom specialize in kids and are great at it!! They truly have a gift...and I tip my hat off to them!!!

Emily+Vince Seattle Vintage Wedding

Not only did life lead Emily to Boston to attend the finest universities in the country, it also led her there to meet an amazing man that she would one day call her husband!!! Life then led the couple to Seattle where they just recently began their new life together as husband and wife!

Emily's mom embroidered this beautiful bouquet ribbon and surprised her with it on the day of her wedding. Gently attached to the ribbon hung the first ring that Emily's great grandfather gave to her great-grandmother, a locket that her grandfather gave to her grandmother and the first ring that her dad gave to her mother. It was the loveliest bouquet ribbon that I have ever seen.

I love these two photos. The first one is of Emily's mom looking at her daughter with such admiration and pride. The second photo is a capture of  Emily's father walking in the room and for the first time, seeing his daughter as a stunning bride.

And now for the handsome groom and his Best Man.

The details of this wedding were AMAZING! From the hand sewn linen napkins at the reception to the hand-made place cards to the hand picked flowers that the couple used for all of their floral arrangements!
Below is a photo of flowers that a friend of the couple grew for them specifically for their wedding. The other is a photo of Emily holding a sweet pea. When making a floral arrangement, she noticed a baby pea growing out of the left lower part of this flower. I think that that was extremely apropos given that this couple was just about to start a new life together! Best of luck Emily and Vince!!!

Sunny & Zack (Lawrence Engagement KU Campus)

It was obvious that Sunny is a daughter of a photographer!! Being in front of a camera was so natural for her! There is something about this couple...the only way that I know how to explain it is that they simply glowed! They both look fabulous in every shot!!!

I had the privledge of taking Sunny + Zach's engagement photos on the beautiful campus of the  University of Kansas.  This was a special place for two reasons. One being that couple will exchange their vows at Danforth Chapel which is located on this campus. Secondly, KU is the ultimate reason that these two met each other.

If it wasn't for Sunny's dad moving to Lawrence to become Director of Budig Hall at Kansas University, Sunny may not have ever lived in Lawrence!
Yet, another gift from her dad!

These two photos are of them right outside of Budig Hall:

A special thanks to Steve for doing such a fabulous job with the reflector and to Matt for lugging all of my equipment all over the campus and making sure Sunny's hair was perfect!! When it comes to assistants, you two REIGN SUPREME!!!! ;)
